You may have heard reports that some health care providers are refusing to accept Chronic and Acute Medical Assistance (CAMA) coupons because they believe CAMA is out of money. This broadcast is intended to provide you with accurate information so that you can respond to inquiries you may get from a CAMA recipient who has difficulty with a provider reluctant to accept their CAMA coupon.

Congress allowed its authorization for the SLMB Subsidy eligibility category to "sunset" on December 31, 2002. This means that funding for the SLMB Subsidy is exhausted. DMA has been tracking these cases and final payments are being sent to these recipients who have qualified for this category in the past. The SLMB Subsidy category will not be recognized beginning with the benefit month of January 2003.
The AD #2 form, Preliminary Examination for Interim Assistance, has been revised. This form is used as part of the process for establishing eligibility for Interim Assistance. It has been revised to update the SGA (Substantial Gainful Activity) amount from $780 per month to $800 per month as part of the annual cost of living adjustments for 2003.

The office played Santa for a single mother with cancer. This mother has five children. Bob Morgan, the Santa delivery elf, said the children were dancing with joy as they helped haul in the colorfully wrapped packages. It was a Christmas from the heart.
