New DPA Stars

Congratulations to three bright stars that shine at their work, and win our glowing admiration. These luminaries do light up our working days. Thank you for your great work and many contributions to the Division of Public Assistance.

-- Jim Dalman, Acting Director

Recruitment Announcements listed on DPAweb

Currently, all DPA jobs on Workplace Alaska are posted on the DPAweb intranet under "DPA Recruitment" on the right side menu column. To improve the division's ability to announce employment opportunities within the division, these openings will also be posted on the DPA Recruitment page of DPAweb. The broadcast method may still be used to draw attention to specific employment opportunities, but DPAweb will now be a one-stop location for job or transfer opportunities.

EITC Campaign Underway

As many of you know, DPA launches a yearly EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) campaign to help raise awareness of the benefits of the EITC as well as the Advance EITC. Similar to past efforts, we will once again focus our marketing towards informing Public Assistance recipients of tax credit opportunities.

Here is a brief summary of the Division's campaign activities for 2004:

Semi-Annual Reporting Progress Update

Preparation for implementation of Semi-Annual Reporting on January 1, 2004 is well underway. Training officially started on Monday of last week. The trainers have been busy presenting training on-site at local offices, and they have a tight schedule in order to finish prior to the holiday season. Policy staff are busy finalizing forms and notices, and compiling a list of Q&A’s from the training sessions. Additionally, Systems Operations is working on getting the system supports in place.

Semi-Annual Reporting Waiver Request

Broadcast to all DPA staff from the Semi-Annual Reporting Project Design Team

As part of our continuing effort to keep you informed of the progress of
the Semi-annual Reporting project (known currently as Simplified
Reporting), this broadcast explains why we chose to request a waiver to
act on all changes. As for the name change, there has been considerable
work done to outline the policies that will guide this new way of
working, and we have realized that the term "simplified" is a bit
misleading.
