New Look for DPAWeb

What happened to DPAWeb? DPAWeb was upgraded to a new version of software. This was necessary as the older version was no longer being supported and that posed a security risk. The Food Stamp Accuracy image on the far right will be replaced in the near future. We may need to add some other tweaks here and there. Report problems to: DPA Webmaster

Notice project update

Writing notices to clients is an important aspect of our workflow process. It is our principal method of communicating to clients about actions taken on their application or case, ensuring that due process requirements are met, and sharing information about their rights and responsibilities.

DPA sends an average of over three thousand notices clients each and every day. While EIS maintains a tremendous notice history and ensures notices are distributed effectively, the system has many weaknesses and there is a recognized need for changes. The most recent effort to improve our notice system began when staff and local quality councils recommended that the notice system be improved. Subsequently, in 2006, the DPA Leadership Team made notice improvements, aka the Notice Project, one of the division’s top system priorities.

GIVE ME FIVE! 2007 Food Stamp Accuracy Improvement Campaign

You’ve brought us another stride closer to our Food Stamp Program accuracy improvement campaign goal. As we near the end of the FFY 2007 sample year, Alaska stands 9th in the nation for overall payment accuracy. This will be our fourth consecutive year of progressive accuracy improvement – a first in our long history of tracking payment accuracy. You may recall that three states per year are recognized for having the most improved food stamp payment accuracy. We are currently in second place, and holding on to our position in the national competition for a performance bonus. We won’t call it a lock yet, but it is looking ever more probable thanks to your consistently great work.

GIVE ME FIVE! - 2007 Food Stamp Accuracy Improvement Campaign

From: Ellie Fitzjarrald, Director and Jim Dalman, Chief, Program Integrity and Analysis

There is a great convergence of good news to share this month. Hopefully, you’re not tired of hearing how well you are doing with our Give Me Five Food Stamp Program payment accuracy campaign. We are still solidly positioned for an FFY 2007 payment accuracy bonus. These are awarded to the seven states with the lowest payment error rates and the three states with the most improved accuracy. We are currently in the running on two fronts, standing at #2 for most improved accuracy and #10 in the nation for overall accuracy. It is within the realm of possibility that we could make it into the best payment error rate category since we are only half a percentage point behind. There are a few months left to count, but so far . . .very, very good!

Did you know that all Alaskans need to be prepared to manage in an emergency without assistance for at least 72 hours and possibly up to 2 weeks?

September just ended but it is important to note that it was National Preparedness Month, a time to increase public awareness about emergency responsiveness and encourage individuals to take action. For more information about preparing your family for an emergency see the
