Food Stamp Accuracy Campaign Update

BETTER THAN AVERAGE!
Food Stamp Accuracy Campaign Update

With another sample month complete, we are a step closer to our Food Stamp payment accuracy improvement campaign goal of 94%. We now stand so close at 93.9%! I think we could say that's statistically insignificant. Great work everyone. We're trusting that good results from the final month sample will put us clearly atop of our FY 2005 Better than Average goal.

Hats off to the Northern Region for working its way to our goal! It now has 94% food stamp accuracy.

The Southeast Region continues its perfect ways with 100% accuracy.

The Coastal Region has topped our target with 95% accuracy, thanks to fine numbers from nearly all its offices.

The Central Region's Gambell office is solidly performing with 95.5% accuracy, and the Mat-Su APA office has 100% accuracy.

Your hard work has brought us from the lowest accuracy rate in the nation two years ago, to just a half of one percent from the national average. Yet quality never rests. Our FY 2006 Better than Average campaign still aims to further improve and to top the national average.

Thanks for keeping up your steady effort and for keeping improved payment accuracy in our sights. It does pay off in so many ways. If we applied our poor 2003 food stamp payment accuracy rate to this year it would amount to an additional $6.3 million of incorrect benefits. That's meaningful progress. Improved work quality saves us much work, and it feels so much better.
