With the terrific help of DPA staff members Sara Lynch, Cynthia Washington, Jeff Miller, Alan Rice, Cheryl Windham, Leola Monteiro, Erik Ross, Priscilla Augafa, Tracy Appelo, Lisa Baldwin, and Dwynda Kelly and amazing tech support from Gus Michaud from DHSS IT, Anchorage’s Project Homeless Connect Event held Tuesday, January 29th was another huge success! The proof of this terrific effort is in the numbers:
• Preliminary numbers indicate approximately 800 people were served at the Anchorage event
• DPA served 127 customers by providing applications, completing intake and recert interviews,
completing reports of change, issuing EBT cards and checking on current case status
• Team DPA completed 51 face to face interviews, received 43 Gen 50 applications, 9 Gen 72’s, 2 hard copy Report of changes, and 1 Heating Assistance Application during the hours of 10am to 3pm at the event.
Given the numbers above, a DPA Team member personally interacted with at least one person in every six that came to the Egan Center for services!! Our presence was impressive and effective. With the great DHSS IT Support on site this year, we were able to have eight laptops up and running for immediate access to EIS increasing our efficiency greatly. The vision of a statewide team was very much in evidence when looking at the staff working the event. There were representatives from Long Term Care, Coastal Field, Muldoon, Gambell, Denali Kid Care, Field Services, SysOps, Child Care, Policy and DHSS IT.. this is a huge backing from across the division and department.
A Big Thank You to those DPA staff, and their supervisors that offered their time, skills
and expertise to reach out to this vulnerable population in our community!! We also wish to thank those staff that worked tirelessly back in the home offices ensuring that all other customers were fully supported.
