Commissioner's Update - March 14, 2003

To all DHSS Staff,

Although this week has been challenging due to fierce weather in Anchorage, Mat-Su and Juneau, we have been busy explaining the reorganization to the Legislature and other interested parties.

Reorganization presented to Legislators
This week Karleen Jackson and Bob Labbe presented overviews on the DHSS reorganization to the House State Affairs Committee which was considering Executive Order #108, and to both the Senate and House Health Education & Social Services Committees. The presentations were well-received in these bodies, and the PowerPoint presentation has been circulated widely within DHSS. We will put this presentation on-line this week on the DHSS Intranet.

Moline to head Reorganization Project
Rod Moline has agreed to come on as reorganization Project Director, beginning on Monday, March 17. Many of you know Dr. Rod Moline as the DHSS Home & Community Based Waiver Unit Supervisor, and he was formerly Executive Director for REACH, Inc. for 15 years. He has a Masters Degree in Human Resources Management from Texas Tech University and Doctorate Degree in Administration from Columbia Pacific University. As soon as it
