Minimum Wage and Hours of Unpaid Work

This is a reminder to continue to use the federal minimum wage when calculating the number of hours that Temporary Assistance clients can be assigned to unpaid work such as Community Work Experience (CWE) and job sampling. While the Alaska minimum wage will increase to $7.15 an hour effective January 1, 2003, despite attempts by some members of Congress to pass legislation increasing the federal minimum wage, it remains $5.15 per hour.
Thanks again to all of you for making such a difference in the lives of so many Alaskan families in 2002.
