Thanksgiving is traditionally a time to gather with friends and loved ones to give thanks for life’s blessings. The holiday lends itself to reflection on the things for which one is most grateful. Sometimes just thinking about the subject of gratitude can prompt us to feel more of it. When we are aware of the idea of appreciation, we also become more conscious and aware of our blessings. It’s the small acts of kindness that go a long way. When we give, we grow and strengthen human relationships.
All of us have faced adversity at one point in our life. Serving others who are less fortunate sometimes helps to put any of our concerns into proper perspective. In the midst of these difficult times, due to the economic turmoil our nation is facing, let us continue to count our blessings by sharing our gratitude and remembering to serve others. Let us be grateful for all that we have and remember there are also those that need a helping hand.
I am very fortunate to have many blessings in my life. One of them is the opportunity to work with all of you in an organization that serves Alaskans in need. Thank you for all that you do and have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.
