Rising Excellence in DPA!

Each and every one of us in the Division of Public Assistance work incredibly hard and deal with a vast assortment of complicated situations and issues. Your hard work and dedication makes a huge difference in the lives of the people we serve every day. Our Rising Excellence campaign for FFY 2008 is just one example of our demonstrated commitment to quality service.

The 2008 Rising Excellence campaign included three goals: 96% Food Stamp payment accuracy; a fifth straight year of increased accuracy; and an improved accuracy rate for denials and case closures. Although Federal Fiscal Year 2008 was a rather bumpy year, we had some offices with very noteworthy Food Stamp Program accuracy achievements. We want to recognize these achievements and learn more about how they have managed to seemingly sail smoothly through such stormy seas.

Here are the offices that deserve recognition and praise in these areas:

96% Food Stamp Payment Accuracy

Four offices actually managed to make this lofty goal of 96% payment accuracy, which also exceeded the national average of 95.25%. They are:
Bethel 96.95%
Nome 96.94%
Central APA Unit 96.14%
Mat-Su 96.51%

Increased Food Stamp Payment Accuracy

Although we had no offices with 5 straight years of increased accuracy, we did have 2 offices with 3 straight years of increased accuracy – a notable achievement indeed. They are:
FFY 2006 FFY 2007 FFY 2008
Nome 93.7% 94.75% 96.94%
Gambell 87.4% 95.31% 95.32%

Improved Accuracy Rate for Denials and Case Closures

Seven offices improved their accuracy rate for denials and case closures from 2007 to 2008, or maintained 100% accuracy. They are:
FFY 2007 FFY 2008
Sitka 100.00% 100.00%
Bethel 92.59% 94.12%
LTC, TEFRA, Waiver 80.00% 100.00%
Nome 77.78% 81.82%
Central APA Unit 100.00% 100.00%
Mat-Su 95.45% 98.21%
Mat-Su APA 100.00% 100.00%

Hats off to all of the offices for their Rising Excellence, and note that Nome managed to make the list in all 3 areas! Whether or not your office made the list, thanks for your hard work and the effort each and every one of you make to provide quality service. We’re looking forward to swimming in accolades for your great work again in 2009 as we successfully navigate to awesome performance with our SNAP Salmon Challenge!
