The Work Services Handbook is finally here!
The Work Services Handbook is an online document designed as a resource for case managers and other workers who provide Work Services to Temporary Assistance clients. The Work Services Handbook can be viewed here.
Content:
The Work Services Handbook provides guidance in delivery of Work Services, use of Work Services supports and tools, activities available to clients, and examples to help clarify policy, process, and competencies.
Temporary Assistance policy will remain in the Temporary Assistance Manual.
This first edition contains an overview of Work Services as well as detailed information on job search, work, supports and tools including employability assessment, family self-sufficiency planning and work activities. DPA's service principles and how they influence services and planning with clients are also discussed.
Tables and examples are numbered, titled, and listed below the table of contents headings on the front page and linked for easy access and reference.
Additional chapters addressing staffing, penalties, education and
training, challenges to employment and post-Temporary Assistance services will be released at a later time.
Online format:
The Work Services Handbook is another effort by our division to offer interactive on-line documents.
There is a "Search" function to allow for search of the entire document. Topics are cross-referenced and linked within the document for ease of access. A toolbar is located on the top of each page that provides links to forms and other manuals.
An Index and more linking to specific sections in other DPA manuals and resources will become available in future versions of the Work Services Handbook.
While the Work Services Handbook is meant to be viewed as an online linked document, there is also a PDF version available here.
In an effort to continuously improve this resource, DPA and service provider staff are welcome to make comments which will be used for revision of the Work Services Handbook to the DPA Policy box at DPApolicy@health.state.ak.us.
