This is a reminder that the filing deadline for the State's Heating Assistance Program (HAP) is Wednesday, April 30. Applications must be date stamped by a public assistance office by April 30, postmarked by April 30, or received on the HAP fax in Juneau before May 1.
If you receive and date stamp a Heating Assistance Program Application, please forward it to our Juneau HAP office. Do not return it to the applicant to mail on their own.
In contrast to the regular seasonal HAP, we also offer a "Subsidized Rental Housing Utility Deposit" (SRHUD) service. This assists households with the cost to establish the heat or electric utility service required to participate in subsidized rental housing, if the housing program will subsequently fully subsidized home heating costs. The maximum qualifying income limit is 150% of poverty. The SHRUD is available year around. Application is made on the regular HAP application form, although we hope to have a SRHUD application form available soon.
