Our little SNAP salmon are now testing out the water in the “Preliminary Swim”. The Preliminary Swim reflects the first 9 months of FFY 2008 Food Stamp payment accuracy (October 2007 through June 2008). The plan to use a 4-month rolling average wasn’t feasible as some really large unrepresentative client caused errors occurred during those 4 months that skewed the data and inaccurately reflected our work. Our little salmon have been struggling a bit lately as they try to figure out how to navigate. Our FFY 2008 Food Stamp payment accuracy rate now stands at 92.8%, well below our 96% payment accuracy rate for FFY 2007.

The work that we are doing right now is determining where our salmon will be swimming in FFY 2009 for the real swim. If you look closely at the chart you will see that the top of the nose indicates the salmon’s payment accuracy. The 95% goal that we want all salmon to meet or exceed for FFY 2009 is noted as the “Target Line”. And a little mosquito on the far right side reflects the statewide average.
We know that division employees are already committed to customer service and quality work. That’s one of the reasons we are here. We appreciate the extra effort and attention you are focusing on this challenge to improve payment accuracy. Over the years it’s been shown that no one rises to a challenge like DPA employees!
