711-3 DEFINITIONS
A Dependent Child is a child who is:
Under 18 years of age, OR
Age 18 and enrolled full-time in a high school, GED program, or an equivalent level of vocational or technical training, AND
Not a Temporary Assistance applicant themself.
A Parent is anyone of any age who is the natural or adoptive mother or father of the dependent child as defined in section 711-3. Thus, it is possible to have a parent who may also be a dependent child himself or herself.
In two-parent cases, both natural or adoptive parents must be included in the filing unit, even if they are not married, unless one of the parents is excluded for a reason stated in section 711-4.
Brothers and sisters are blood-related or adoptive siblings. This includes half-brothers and half-sisters, but excludes stepbrothers and stepsisters.
