STATE OF ALASKA
Department of Health and Social Services
Division of Public Assistance
TRANSMITTAL NUMBER: MC #25
MANUAL: Aged, Disabled and Long Term Care Medicaid Eligibility Manual
DATE: April 2, 2012
Due to Federal review, the Department must restructure the current Older Alaskans (coded AG in EIS ) and Adults with Physical Disabilities (coded DA in EIS ) waivers. In EIS , these Medicaid waiver codes are entered on the MERE screen. To eliminate the need for new waiver codes, the Department has decided to keep the current four waiver codes (AG, DA, MC, and MD). We have updated Section 515, Section 533, Section 534, Section 560, Section 561, Section 562, and Addendum 5 with the changes outlined below.
If you have any questions please contact the Policy and Program Development Team at 465-3382 or email dpapolicy@alaska.gov.
OVERVIEW OF CHANGES
AG Code: Most of the waiver cases previously coded as DA have been changed to the AG waiver code. The AG code now covers adults who meet a nursing level of care. The new name for this waiver is Older and Disabled Adults (ODA). The AG code was previously used for Older Alaskans (OA) and was limited to adults age 65 or older.
DA Code: The DA code now covers Adults with Physical and Developmental Disabilities (APDD waiver). This waiver was previously called the Adults with Physical Disabilities (APD) waiver.
MC Code: No change. This code continues to cover Children with Complex Medical Conditions (CCMC waiver).
MD Code: A name change only. This code continues to cover adults and children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD waiver). This waiver was previously called the Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (MRDD) waiver.
