1017-2 SETTING UP THE HOME VISIT
Not all families have a traditional primary residence. The home visit should take place at the client’s home or primary place of residence. The primary place of residence for some families could be in a multi-family home, a shelter or another temporary housing situation.
The case manager’s responsibilities are to:
Determine with the client where the home visit will take place keeping in mind the client’s current living situation. Home visits can be conducted at the primary home, a local park, church, local shelter, coffee shop, etc;
Inform all participants of location and time.
Reiterate with the client that the home visit is not a home inspection.
Confirm with the client and other participants one week before, and one day before, the scheduled home visit;
Document the steps taken to confirm the home visit.
