701-8          EXTENSION STAFFING PROCEDURES

Extension staffing may be combined with a quarterly staffing. The following procedures apply to all extension staffings.

701-8 A.      Extension Review Staffing Team responsibilities

The Extension Review Staffing Team conducts the extension staffing in order to determine the family's continued eligibility for ATAP based on extension criteria per TA MS 701-4.

The Extension Review Staffing Team also determines the length of the extension and documents their findings on the extension review form. The decisions made must be supported by documentation. See WSPM MS 1016.

The Extension Review Staffing Team will determine if the family meets the extension criteria listed in TA MS 701-4. The case manager will document the reasons the family doesn't meet the extension criteria before denying the extension.

The case manager informs the caseworker of the extension recommendation via email and CANO.

701-8 B.     Caseworker Responsibilities

The caseworker is responsible for the following:

In cases where the caseworker determines documentation is not adequate, they can request additional information from the case manager. If the caseworker believes they have additional information that may change the outcome of the staffing they should contact the case manager. If the decision to allow or deny the extension is not clear the case may be forwarded to DPA Policy at dpapolicy@alaska.gov for a final determination.

If an extension is allowed, the caseworker sends a notice to the family notifying them that an extension has been allowed, and enters the extension code and end date in EIS. If the family does not meet extension criteria, caseworker sends a notice to the family notifying them their case will close and takes action to close the case allowing for adverse action.
