127-3          COMMUNICATION AND CASE TRANSFERS BETWEEN DISTRICT OFFICES AND DENALI KIDCARE

When processing Denali KidCare in a DPA district office, the following guidelines apply:

  1. When the Denali KidCare is authorized through the current benefit month, the caseworker CARC’s the Denali KidCare case to Field Service Office ( FSO ) 072-9-99.  It is not necessary to send copies of the application to Denali KidCare.

Note:

It is extremely important that only open cases are in the FSO caseload.

  1. The district office caseworker sends the appropriate ”D” series notice to the client and explains in the notice that the child’s Medicaid case is being transferred to the Denali KidCare office.

  1. When a Long Term Care caseworker opts to maintain a Denali KidCare case due to the child fluctuating between TEFRA and Denali KidCare or if waiver approval is imminent, the case must be CARC’d to the Long Term Care caseworker, not the Denali KidCare office.

It is always important to write detailed CANO notes on all related and associated cases when eligibility transfers from one case or program to another.
