123-2          POTENTIAL UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFIT ELIGIBILITY

 

The Alaska Temporary Assistance, Adult Public Assistance, and MAGIModified Adjusted Gross Income Medicaid programs require applicants to develop income they might qualify for, including UIBUnemployment Insurance Benefit. (SNAPSupplemental Nutrition Assistance Program does not require development of income.) Refer to the Alaska Temporary Assistance Manual, Adult Public Assistance Manual, and MAGI Medicaid Manual for additional information about development of income requirements.

 

123-2 A.      DETERMINE POTENTIAL UIBUnemployment Insurance Benefit ELIGIBILITY

 

To determine whether an individual is potentially UIBUnemployment Insurance Benefit eligible, the caseworker may use the information in SAMSecure Access Manager's Wages tab. Refer to the DOLDepartment of Labor SAMSecure Access Manager interface section in the DPADivision of Public Assistance Interface User Guide for more information about potential UIBUnemployment Insurance Benefit eligibility.

 

123-2 B.      REFERRAL TO UIBUnemployment Insurance Benefit

 

The caseworker must be prudent in deciding whether or not to actually refer clients to apply for UIBUnemployment Insurance Benefit. Any individual who appears to be eligible for an expected weekly UIBUnemployment Insurance Benefit benefit should be referred.

 

Individuals can apply for UIBUnemployment Insurance Benefit by calling 269-4700 in Anchorage, 465-5552 in Juneau, or 451-2871 in Fairbanks. If they cannot call any of these numbers without paying long distance fees, they can call 1-888-252-2557 and they will be routed to the nearest claim center. Individuals can also apply online at my.alaska.gov by clicking on Unemployment Insurance Benefits.
