116-7          CASE TRANSFER

Families served by a Native Family Assistance Program may become ineligible for the NFAPNative Family Assistance Program benefits and eligible for Alaska Temporary Assistance benefits or vice versa. This occurs when a family moves into or out of an NFAPNative Family Assistance Program service area. This can also occur when a Native adult or child moves into a household with non-native members. Once eligibility for either Alaska Temporary Assistance or NFAPNative Family Assistance Program benefits ends, the family must submit a new application for assistance with the appropriate program if they wish to qualify for assistance again. The family's eligibility for assistance for the new program may begin only after their eligibility for other program ends. When an application for Alaska Temporary Assistance is received by DPADivision of Public Assistance from a former NFAPNative Family Assistance Program recipient, treat it as if the family received TANFTemporary Assistance for Needy Families benefits from another state before applying for help in Alaska.
