105-9          VERIFICATION OF CITIZENSHIP AND IDENTITY IN ELIGIBILITY FILES

Refer to MAGI Medicaid Manual 808 and Aged, Disabled and Long Term Care MS 520-B for additional information about US citizenship and identification verification requirements.

If verification of US citizenship and identity is required for the applicant or recipient of Medicaid and the case is in open status, a copy of the verification must be in the case file. If there is no verification in the case file but EIS is coded with a verification code indicating an original or certified copy was viewed and DPA has already received acceptable proof of US citizenship and identity, then the caseworker must:

  1. Check CLPM screen to determine if the individual was in a different household or case.

  2. If the individual was in a different household or case, check the CAP 1 screen to identify the name of the functional unit assigned to the case.

  3. If the case is in open status, call the First Contact Resolution representative for the office. The list of representatives and their contact numbers can be found online at http://dpaweb.hss.state.ak.us/files/pdfs/FirstContactResolutionOfficeReps.pdf.

  4. If the verification is not received within 24 hours, forward a copy of the email to the office manager or supervisor.

If a copy of the verification or original document cannot be located, the caseworker must follow the verification procedures outlined ADTLC MS 520(B) or MAGI MS 808-6(B).
