740-1 EXTENDED CASE MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES
740-1 A. EXTENDED CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES
If an adult family member is employed at the time the Temporary Assistance case closes, the family is eligible for up to 12 months of extended case management services. These services include:
Family problem-solving and mentoring;
Job retention or re-employment counseling;
Child care consumer education and referrals and
Referrals to community resources that are able to provide the employment-related assistance these individuals need after the family’s eligibility for extended supportive services ends.
Case managers may also consider suggesting diversion as an option to help eligible families who no longer qualify for ongoing supportive services but need short term assistance to remain employed.
Note:
A family is not eligible for extended case management services if their case closes because:
• They no longer reside in Alaska; or
• They no longer have an eligible child in the home.
Supportive services are also available as a means of extended support. The services available are limited to those described in the Supportive Service Payments chapter.
The case manager takes this action only when an employed family member needs the supportive service to retain their paid job, and lacks another means to pay for it. The case worker may authorize these needed services for up to 12 months following the date of Temporary Assistance case closure.
Note:
Extended supportive services do not include child care assistance. When an adult in the household is employed at the time the family’s case closes, they must be referred to the PASS II program for child care assistance. The case manager may authorize PASS I child care for the month after the case closes if this is necessary for the employed individual to retain their job and make the transition to PASS II.
