720-5 SELF-SUFFICIENCY PLANNING REQUIREMENT
Every adult who is included in an assistance unit must develop, sign, and comply with a Family Self-Sufficiency Plan (FSSP). In a two-parent family, both parents must sign and develop their own FSSP. In a pregnant woman case, if the father of the unborn child is living in the home, he may voluntarily develop, sign, and comply with an FSSP.
Complying with the FSSP means that the adult participates in activities identified in the plan as steps that move the family toward self-sufficiency. In a two-parent family, the parents must participate in work or self-sufficiency activities for a combined total of at least 35 hours a week.
If either or both parents in the family do not comply, a penalty is applied and the family's benefit reduced.
