715-2          CHILDREN AGE 18

 

715-2 A.      ELIGIBLE 18-YEAR-OLD DEPENDENT CHILDREN

 

A child who is age 18 meets the age requirement for a dependent child if:

 

  1. The 18-year-old is enrolled full-time in a secondary school or GEDGeneral Equivalency Diploma program, or a secondary school or GEDGeneral Equivalency Diploma correspondence course; or
  2. The 18-year-old has not completed secondary school or a GEDGeneral Equivalency Diploma and is enrolled full-time in an equivalent course of study in a vocational or technical training program.

 

Full time enrollment is defined by the school. Summer vacations are considered part of the school year.

 

Note:

In Alaska, a secondary school is defined as containing some portions of grades six through twelve.

 

715-2 B.      PERIOD OF ELIGIBILITY

 

Eligibility ends effective the last day of the month of course completion, withdrawal of the child from enrollment, or the child's 19th birthday, whichever occurs first.
