Revised ABAWD policy to align with Alaska's Good Faith Exemption waiver, allowed under the provisions of the 2025 Reconciliation Bill (H.R. 1). This includes updated designations of exempt and non-exempt areas for the new waiver period: 11/01/25 - 10/31/26.
This update also includes policy revisions to Eligible Alien Status to align with the provisions from H.R. 1, further clarified in the Food and Nutrition Services memo dated 10/31/2025.
This year the Social Security Administration announces a Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) increase effective January 2026, which increased the payee fee that can be excluded as unearned income.
Highlights of these and other policy revisions are described below. If you have any questions, please contact the Policy & Program Development team at hss.dpa.policy@alaska.gov.
