604-3 B. STATUS REPORTING
Households in which all members are recipients of Adult Public Assistance or Interim Assistance benefits are assigned to status reporting. Once assigned to status reporting, the household remains in status reporting through the current certification period.
Note:
An APA client in refused cash status
is considered an APA recipient for SNAP purposes.
Example - Household
Not Assigned to Status Reporting
Hunter and Emily, a married couple, are applying for SNAP. The household
also receives APA . The
couple is coded as A2S in EIS ,
meaning only one spouse is eligible for APA .
Because both members of the household are not eligible for APA , the household is assigned to semi-annual
reporting.
1. Household Status Reporting Requirements
Households assigned to status reporting are required to report:
A change in residence or mailing address. If a household moves they must report their new shelter costs to have the costs included in the eligibility determination and benefit calculation. The new costs must be verified if questionable.
When anyone moves into or out of the home.
When the household gets a vehicle.
When cash on hand and in bank accounts totals $2250 or more.
A change in the source of unearned income or a change in the total amount of unearned income of more than $50.
Changes in employment, including starting or stopping a job, a change in the rate of pay, or a change from part-time to full-time or full-time to part-time employment.
A change in the legal obligation to pay child support or a change in the amount of child support a household member is expected to pay.
Households are required to report these changes within 10 days of when they know of the change.
Changes reported within 10 days from the day the change actually occurred are considered timely.
Caseworkers will use the date the change occurred when applying the 10-10-10 rule on changes that are reported late or not reported at all.
Households must report required changes occurring between the interview and the approval within ten days of the date of the approval notice.
2. Notice Requirements for Status Reporting
Households will be notified in writing of their reporting requirements when they are initially approved for SNAP, when changes are reported during the certification period, and at recertification.
3. Changes that Must Be Acted on for Status Reporting
Under status reporting the caseworker is required to take action and redetermine eligibility and benefit amount when:
The household reports a change;
A system interface alert provides information that may affect the household’s eligibility or benefit amount; and,
Information becomes known from other sources.
