5400           UNDER 21 MEDICAID

Under 21 Medicaid is an eligibility category for individuals under the age of 21 who meet the requirements of Family Medicaid, except for the requirements identified in Section 5020.  This eligibility category is primarily used for 19 and 20 year olds.  It is also used for children eligible for Title IV-E and State-only subsidized adoption coverage (see Sections 5195 and 5460 respectively), and non IV-E state only foster care (section 5450).

If children are age 18 or under, it is preferable for them to receive coverage through Denali KidCare if they qualify for it, rather than through the Under-21 Medicaid category.  Almost all children age 18 and under who qualify for Under 21 Medicaid will also qualify for Denali KidCare.
