The mandatory household members comprise only the minimum unit of eligibility. There may be other people in the home who wish to apply and who would be eligible if they chose to apply. Except as provided below, these optional members of the household may be included in the same application and on the same case.
5104-4 A. FAMILIES LIVING TOGETHER
If an application is received from an individual who resides with someone else who is already receiving Family Medicaid, the application may be processed and eligibility determined as with any other case, as long as the applicant or children for whom he or she is applying are not otherwise required to be included in the existing household.
Even if applying children are not required to be part of an existing Family Medicaid household, they are normally added to that household if the adult in that household applies for benefits for them and is a caretaker relative to them.
When adult relatives are living together, each with his or her own dependent children, it may be possible to have two or more Family Medicaid households living under the same roof, provided eligibility exists for each household separately.
