5007-1        DENALI KIDCARE AND FAMILY MEDICAID CASES

In application situations, the 12-month continuous eligibility period ( CEP ) begins with the first month of eligibility.   In a review situation, the new 12-month CEP begins the first month after the conclusion of the previous CEP even if the review is worked after the end of the review period.

Example:

Ms. Kolvig submits a review for her children’s DKC case on 5/15/09.  The end of her children’s CEP is 5/31/09.  The review is worked on 7/1/09 due to office backlog.  The children remain eligible for DKC .  Their new 12-month CEP is 6/1/09 - 5/31/10.

The continuous eligibility period under this section does not apply to the Newborn (subtype BA) eligibility category.  Newborns are automatically given one year of eligibility.  When combined with the one-day one-month rule, a newborn effectively receives a 13-month continuous eligibility period. See Section 5330.
