5150 RESOURCES
A household or child will not be eligible for Family Medicaid if they have countable resources in excess of $2,000, or $3,000 if the household includes a person who is age 60 or older. Certain types of real and personal property are exempt. Exempt resources are not counted against the resource limit. Countable resources are those which must have their value totaled and matched against the appropriate resource limit to determine if eligibility exists on the factor of resources. The resource limit can be reached by any combination of the following types of resources:
Cash on hand or
deposit;
The equity value
of countable motor vehicles, boats, and snow machines;
Countable non-cash
personal property such as cash or loan value of insurance, value of stocks
and bonds, limited entry permits, etc.;
Countable real
property other than the home the family lives in and the land the home
sits on; and
“Luxury” items, personal or household, such as coin collections.
