5007-3        CONTINUOUS ELIGIBILITY AND POST MEDICAID

At the time a household loses Family Medicaid eligibility because of increased child support payments, the household should be moved to the 4-month Post Medicaid (4M Four Month Post-Medicaid Eligibility) category.  If the household includes a child who is in a continuous eligibility period that extends beyond that 4-month period, the child must remain coded FM-AF.  If a child has 4 months or less remaining in a continuous eligibility period, the child should be coded 4M Four Month Post-Medicaid Eligibility along with the parents.

When Post Medicaid eligibility ends, a child must have their eligibility redetermined for Denali KidCare, Family Medicaid, or Under 21.  When a child is determined prospectively eligible for Denali KidCare or Medicaid, a new 6-month continuous period of eligibility period begins with the first benefit month.

Post Medicaid is a special category of eligibility based on losing Family Medicaid eligibility.  Eligibility for Post Medicaid does not entitle a child to six months of continuous eligibility.  Therefore, a child is not eligible for a new 6-month continuous eligibility period based on any month of Post Medicaid eligibility.
