5007-1 DENALI KIDCARE AND FAMILY MEDICAID CASES
The 6-month continuous eligibility period begins with the month a prospective Denali KidCare or Family Medicaid eligibility determination or redetermination is made. The end of the 6-month continuous eligibility period should coincide with the normal 6-month review period. In application situations, the 6-month continuous eligibility period begins with the first month of eligibility.
In a Family Medicaid case, continuous eligibility only applies to the children. This means adults may lose Family Medicaid eligibility while their children remain eligible for the balance of the children’s continuous eligibility period.
The continuous eligibility period under this section does not apply to the Newborn (subtype BA) eligibility category. Newborns are automatically given one year of eligibility. When combined with the one-day one-month rule, a newborn effectively receives a 13-month continuous eligibility period. See Section 5330.
