Beginning July 1, 2011, new policy increases the personal needs allowance for nursing home residents to $200 per month. This manual change incorporates the new need and maximum payment standards in Addendum 1.

Other changes are either technical in nature or clarifications that are the result of policy questions or suggestions from the field.

MS 452-1 C. Interim Assistance Payments

• Updates the personal needs maximum payment from $75 to $200 per month.

MS 452-5B(2)  IA Benefit Payments to Institutionalized individuals

• Updates the personal needs maximum payment from $75 to $200 per month.

MS 452-5C  Personal Needs Benefit Payments

• Updates the personal needs maximum payment from $75 to $200 per month.

• Updates the year from 2009 to 2011 within the chapter.
• Updates examples within this chapter to reflect the 2011 need and maximum payment standards.

MS 470-2  Continued Benefits For Temporarily Institutionalized Recipient

• Updates the personal needs maximum payment from $75 to $200 per month.

Addendum 1

• Updates the nursing home personal needs allowance from $75 to $200 per month effective July 1, 2011 in the APA need standard table and the APA maximum payment standards table.
