124-1          CHILD TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

1. The OCS Office of Children's Services eligibility technician notifies DPA Division of Public Assistance caseworker, via email, that a child is no longer in home and the effective date.
    

2. The OCS Office of Children's Services eligibility technician registers a Medicaid case for each child, with child as PI Primary Information Person in Full Service Office ( FSO Field Service Office ) 060. The benefit start date would be the 1st day of the month after the effective date of custody.  

Note:

If an SSI Supplemental Security Income disabled child remains in custody through his or her 18th birthday, when the child turns 18 the OCS Office of Children's Services eligibility technician will email the appropriate Adult Public Assistance ( APA Adult Public Assistance ) office.  The APA Adult Public Assistance worker will register a new APA Adult Public Assistance cash and APA Adult Public Assistance -Related Medicaid case number and authorize benefits beginning the 1st day in the month that the child has their 18th birthday.  The OCS Office of Children's Services eligibility technician will close the case in 060.
