116-10        OVERPAYMENTS AND RECOUPMENTS

Active Alaska Temporary Assistance claims will not transfer to an NFAP Native Family Assistance Program .  The NFAP Native Family Assistance Program organization will use its own internal system to recoup overpayments.

The NFAP Native Family Assistance Program worker and the respective DPA Division of Public Assistance worker will work together and develop a method to account for the recouped portion used to correctly determine the Food Stamp eligibility and benefit amount.

In addition, if a case has been transferred to an NFAP Native Family Assistance Program , and an Alaska Temporary Assistance Program error from previous month(s) is discovered, DPA Division of Public Assistance is still responsible for initiating action to correct the error.  The NFAP Native Family Assistance Program worker will inform the respective DPA Division of Public Assistance staff of the error.   DPA Division of Public Assistance will follow Alaska Temporary Assistance policy for correcting payments.  Refer to Alaska Temporary Assistance MS 792 for further guidelines.
