109-1          METHODS OF CANO DOCUMENTATION

Staff must refer to their supervisor regarding the approved methods of CANO documentation used in their office.  Currently, the methods available are:

Note: This is the preferred method for new staff.

Macros are typically used for certain tasks that are performed repeatedly on EIS such as writing notices, case note templates, and alerts.  Caseworkers can automate these tasks by using macros. Refer to MS 104-3 for more information on using macros.

When cutting and pasting information from another document or program such as Word, staff must ensure the information is accurate and complete. Staff must also avoid cutting and pasting from email or Outlook. The characters or format is not always compatible with EIS which causes the system to freeze.

Some methods can be good shortcuts and time savers. However, staff must remember that regardless of the selected method of documentation, they own the CANO they write and any errors the case may contain.
