815-1 Hospitalized Children receiving Treatment Over 30 Days

A child may be temporarily absent from his or her home for treatment in a hospital facility.  Determine eligibility using MAGI Medicaid policy.

If the child is ineligible for MAGI Medicaid and has resided in the hospital facility for more than 30 days, eligibility may be determined in the Special LTCLong Term Care category. Refer to ADLTC MS 514 G.

Refer to MAGI MS 806-1 for more information regarding applications received from a hospital when the child's stay is less than 30 days.

Note:

If tax filer and tax dependency status is not known when determining MAGI Medicaid eligibility for the child, follow MAGI Medicaid non-filer rules. Only use the non-MAGI institutional deeming rules if the child is determined ineligible for MAGI due to countable income or household composition.

Children that are attending a boarding school or a military academy in Alaska, in which the child is out of the home of their parent/caretaker relative for an extended period of time, are not eligible for Medicaid using institutional deeming rules.
