730-5          COUNTABLE TIME PER WORK ACTIVITY

 

Time in assigned activities is countable if verified and documented.

 

There are two types of countable work activities: Core and Work Support.  All hours spent in Core Work Activities are fully countable.  Hours spent in Work Support Activities are countable after the client has completed an average of 20 hours per week of Core Work Activity.

 

730-5 A.     CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

 

Core Work Activities are those primary activities which support work, going to work, and self-sufficiency.  Core Work Activities are:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Note:  

FSSP meetings focused on work search and job readiness options are countable as Work Search and Job Readiness.  This includes discussions about past work experience, job searches and career options.

 

 

730-5 B.    WORK SUPPORT ACTIVITIES

 

Time in Work Support Activities count after the client has completed an average of 20 hours of Core Work Activities per week.  A client must have 80 hours of countable Core Activity during a full-month on Temporary Assistance in order for Work Support Activities hours to count. Work Support Activities are:

 

 

 

 

 

730-5 c.      OTHER ACTIVITIES

 

Clients may also engage in assigned activities that support success in increasing self-sufficiency and exiting Temporary Assistance which are not countable. While engagement in these activities must be documented, there are no specific verification requirements.

 

 

 

Note:

Discovery and other Families First activities do not count for the federal work participation rate.  However, these activities help families become self-sufficient.  The activities will be included in the hours a family is involved in meeting work participation goals.  See manual section 732 for more information about Families First activities.
