5220 TRANSITIONAL MEDICAID
Transitional Medicaid is a special Medicaid eligibility category that is designed to encourage households to take advantage of better employment opportunities, even when it means the household will make too much money to qualify for Family Medicaid. When a household loses Family Medicaid because the earnings of a caretaker relative have increased, the household may qualify for extended Medicaid eligibility for up to 12 months. The purpose of this extended Medicaid is to ease the transition from welfare to work.
