5016-1        INFORMING APPLICANTS AND RECIPIENTS ABOUT MEDICAL SUPPORT ORDERS AND REQUIREMENTS

When an initial application is received and when a recipient requests that a child be added to the case, the caseworker must discuss medical support cooperation and enforcement requirements with caretaker relatives who are required to cooperate and provide them with:

Note:

The requirement to discuss medical support cooperation and enforcement requirements, including the completion of a CSSD 1603a does not apply to the adding of a newborn until after the end of the mother's 60-day post-partum period.

Note:

Enrollment of a child in Medicaid or Denali KidCare does not satisfy the noncustodial parent’s obligation of providing medical support.  If that occurs, the noncustodial parent will be required to repay the state for the cost of services provided to the child covered by Denali KidCare or Medicaid if those services should have been provided under the medical support order (i.e., dependent care coverage under the noncustodial parent’s health insurance).
