5156-8 APA-SSI-FM HOUSEHOLDS
5156-8 A. RESOURCES OF APA /SSI Supplemental Security Income RECIPIENTS ARE DISREGARDED
All resources of any person who is actually receiving Adult Public Assistance (APA ) and/or Supplemental Security Income (SSI Supplemental Security Income) benefits will be disregarded in determining the Family Medicaid eligibility of the other household members.
Note:
For Family Medicaid purposes, Interim Assistance payments are not considered
an APA benefit.
5156-8 B. FAMILY MEDICAID HOUSEHOLDS WITH POTENTIAL APA /SSI Supplemental Security Income ELIGIBILITY:
If APA or SSI Supplemental Security Income eligibility is expected or it has been established but no payments are yet being received by a Family Medicaid household member, Family Medicaid eligibility regarding resources will be determined using normal policies and procedures. The resources of the potential APA /SSI Supplemental Security Income member will be determined as available to the Family Medicaid household under normal policies.
5156-8 C. FAMILY MEDICAID HOUSEHOLDS WHICH LATER COME TO HAVE AN APA /SSI Supplemental Security Income RECIPIENT:
When the caseworker gets notification that SSI Supplemental Security Income or APA (not Interim Assistance) payments have begun to a Family Medicaid household member, Family Medicaid eligibility regarding resources must be immediately redetermined. Exclude all consideration of the APA /SSI Supplemental Security Income recipient's resources from the Family Medicaid household's resources. It may be necessary to contact the SSI Supplemental Security Income District Office to discover what resources they consider available to the SSI Supplemental Security Income applicant.
In most cases, the only resources that will be of concern in determining Family Medicaid eligibility will be those that are available, not exempt, and jointly owned by the Family Medicaid applicant or recipient and the APA /SSI Supplemental Security Income recipient. In such cases, the equity value of the resource is prorated.
5156-8 D. APA /SSI Supplemental Security Income HOUSEHOLDS WITH POTENTIAL FM ELIGIBILITY:
If APA or SSI Supplemental Security Income has already determined a household member to be eligible, the caseworker must exclude from the Family Medicaid determination all resources APA (not Interim Assistance) or SSI Supplemental Security Income included in determining APA /SSI Supplemental Security Income eligibility, but prorate all jointly held resources as detailed above.
