5104-5        CHILDREN RECEIVING SSI Supplemental Security Income OR FOSTER CARE MAINTENANCE PAYMENTS

A child receiving SSI Supplemental Security Income or foster care payments may not be included in a Family Medicaid case.  That child’s needs, income, and resources are disregarded in the eligibility determination for any remaining household members.

An adult may be the only member in a Family Medicaid household if they are

  1. The parent of a child receiving SSI Supplemental Security Income; or

  2. The specified relative serving as a foster parent of a dependent child who is receiving federal or state foster care maintenance payments.

The needs, income, and resources of a child receiving SSI Supplemental Security Income or foster care payments are disregarded in the eligibility determination and household size need standards.
