123-2 POTENTIAL UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFIT ELIGIBILITY
The Alaska Temporary Assistance, Adult Public Assistance, and Family Medicaid programs require applicants to develop income they might qualify for, including UIB . (The Food Stamp Program does not require development of income.) Refer to the Alaska Temporary Assistance Program Manual section 755; Adult Public Assistance Manual section 420-1; and Family Medicaid Manual section 5018.
123-2 A DETERMINE POTENTIAL UIB ELIGIBILITY
To determine whether an individual is potentially UIB eligible, the caseworker may use the Department of Labor Data System Pseudo Monetary screen (BB01). The BB01 will show the individual's gross earned income received in each of the four base period quarters as well as their expected weekly benefit. Refer to the DOL Interface section in the DPA Interface User Guide for more information on the Pseudo Monetary screen.
The caseworker must be prudent in deciding whether or not to actually refer clients to apply for UIB . Any individual who appears to be eligible for an expected weekly UIB benefit after reviewing the Department of Labor Data System Pseudo Monetary screen (BB01) should be referred.
Individuals can apply for UIB by calling 269-4700 in Anchorage, 465-5552 in Juneau, or 451-2871 in Fairbanks. If they cannot call any of these numbers without paying long distance fees, they can call 1-888-252-2557 and they will be routed to the nearest claim center. Individuals can also apply online at www.jobs.alaska.gov by clicking on Unemployment Insurance Benefits.
