118 VOTER REGISTRATION
Under federal and state law, all Public Assistance offices in the State must inform Public Assistance applicants and recipients about voter registration and accept completed voter registration forms. To meet this requirement, DPA offices must distribute a voter registration application with each application for Public Assistance.
To offer voter registration to DPA applicants and recipients, follow the instructions below:
Insert a voter registration application in all
DPA
application forms you send to applicants and have them available at the front lobby. Attached is a link to the Alaska voter registration application. You may request voter registration forms from a local Division of Elections office or download the form from this link and make copies:
http://www.elections.state.ak.us/forms/c03.pdf
Inform applicants and recipients that they may submit their completed voter registration application to any
DPA
office. Offices may put up posters provided by Division of Elections indicating that
DPA
accepts voter registration forms.
If requested, provide assistance with completing the voter registration application and advise applicants and recipients as to what fields must be completed.
Designate an employee from each office to compile all completed voter registration applications and complete the NVRA Voter Registration Application Transmittal form. Submit the voter registration forms and completed registration transmittal form to the Division of Elections at least once a week, or more frequently if an election is coming up.
Each
DPA
office is assigned to a Division of Elections Regional Office. The appropriate Division of Elections office is listed on the registration transmittal form (Addendum 118A).
Call the designated Division of Elections Regional Office with any questions about voter registration.
