128-1 FOREIGN NATIONAL NOTIFICATION PROGRAM
The United States, along with many other countries, has agreed (under the provisions of Article 37 of the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consulate Relations) to promptly notify foreign consular officials when it is learned that foreign nationals of their country have either died or become incapacitated while in this country. Other agreements require similar notification in cases of decedents' estates in which foreign nationals are heirs or may otherwise have an interest.
DPA will promptly notify the appropriate embassy or consulate when it is discovered that a foreign national has:
died in, or while claiming residence to, the State of Alaska;
required the appointment of a guardian or a trustee as the result of physical or mental incapacity;
an interest in, or is an heir to, an estate.
All such notifications must be tubed to the Cash Assistance Unit (HPACASH) in Central office. The information must include the following:
name of the foreign national
current or last known address
telephone number or emergency contact person
date of birth and/or date of death
information to be reported
