360-1        REVIEWS

When a Senior Benefits application or review is received from a household, it must be used to establish a new certification period.

When a new or review application (GEN 50C or GEN 72) is received for other DPA(Division of Public Assistance) programs, prior to the Senior Benefits established date for renewal, the new or review application should not be used to establish a new certification period for Senior Benefits.  See MS 360-2 for additional information regarding acting on reported changes.

See MS 310 for additional information regarding the application process and signature requirements.

Example 1:

A household is receiving Senior Benefits benefits that are certified through December.  They apply for SNAPSupplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits in September.  The SNAPSupplemental Nutrition Assistance Program application should not be used to establish a new Senior Benefits certification period unless Senior Benefits is marked on the application.

Example 2:

A household is receiving Senior Benefits and SNAP benefits.  The Senior Benefits is authorized through September, but a SNAP recertification is due in March.  When the household submits the SNAP recertification, the GEN 72 should not be used to redetermine eligibility for Senior Benefits unless Senior Benefits is marked on the recertification form.

360-1     A. PROCESSING TIME FRAMES

Renewal applications must be processed within 30 days after the date the renewal application is received by a DPA(Division of Public Assistance) Office.

360-1     B. LATE RENEWALS

Treat a renewal application that is received after the last day of the review period the same as a new application.  These applications must be processed within 30 days after the date the application is received in a DPA(Division of Public Assistance) Office.

360-1     C. NOTICE OF FINDING ON RENEWAL APPLICATION

Adequate notice of action shall be mailed to a recipient once the renewal application is processed, but only if there is no loss in benefits.  Any adverse action taken on a review, such as a suspension of benefits or termination of assistance, may also require timely notice.
