Service Population: The AVCPAssociation of Village Council Presidents TANFTemporary Assistance to Needy Families program serves the following families:

• 1-parent households in which the person making the application has biological children enrolled in a federally recognized Alaska Native or American Indian tribe; 

• 2-parent households in which at least 1 of the adults is enrolled in a federally recognized Alaska Native or American Indian tribe;

• Child-only households in which the child is enrolled or eligible to be enrolled in a federally recognized Alaska Native or American Indian tribe; and

• A pregnant woman in her third trimester bearing a child of Alaska Native or American Indian descent and will be eligible in a federally recognized tribe once born.

Service Area: The service area for this program includes Bethel and surrounding communities within the Calista Region of Western Alaska. Communities in this service area include:

Akiachak, Akiak, Alakanuk, Aniak, Atmatluak, Bethel, Bill Moore's Slough, Chefornak, Chevak, Chuathbaluk, Chuloonawick, Crooked Creek, Eek, Emmonak, Georgetown, Goodnews Bay, Hamilton, Hooper Bay, Kalskag (lower), Kalskag (upper), Kasigluk, Kipnuk, Kongiganak, Kotlik, Kwethluk, Kwigillingok, Lime Village, Marshall, Mekoryuk, Mountain Village, Napaimiut, Napakiak, Napaskiak, Newtok, Nightmute, Nunam Iqua (Sheldon Pt.), Nunapitchuk, Ohogamiut, Oscarville, Paimiut, Pilot Station, Pitka's Point, Platinum, Quinhagak, Red Devil, Russian Mission, Saint Mary's (Algaaciq & Andreafski tribes), Scammon Bay, Sleetmute, Stony River, Toksook Bay, Tuluksak, Tuntutuliak, Tununak, and Umkumiut.
